Exit On The Left
I hope you're writing this down CD
Funtime Records
Exit On The Left is a new band from Aarschot, Belgium, an area where a lot of punk rock bands are based; Five Days Off, Homer (their new CD is gonna be reviewed soon in this blog by the lazy Mistress...!), Sixtoys (they share their singer with EOTL, btw) and many more bands are active there.
This CD is their first full length and was released in late April. They have also put out the EP 'Revenge never sleeps' back in 2007, and have played a bunch of sold out shows in their hometown, while appearing in big Belgian fests along with Story Of The Year, Misery Signals, As I Lay Dying and Atreyu and weekend tours in Europe.
'I hope you're writing this down' includes 11 emo - pop punk rock songs in the vein of Blink 182, Get Up Kids, Saves The Day and New Found Glory.
Their songs are really catchy and the great melodic vocals of Jonas definitely lead to a succesful result. You know, sometimes their music is so cheesy and ultra romantic that the fanatic hardcore kids will not like at all, but nevermind, it's cool and easy to listen.
To be honest, I got bored during the 2nd listening (in a row) of the CD, but dude/tte if you listen this in your car stereo a hot summer night while going for a night swim or if you put this in your ipod sharing the headphones with your boy/girlfriend while counting together the stars in the sky, pressing 'pause' every now and then to tell him/her how much you love him/her, then you won't have any problem at all!
Fuck me, I'm going insesitive I think... Ha!
Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!
The artwork rules; the colors featured are exactly the colors I use for the headlines of the reviews in this blog, i'm psyched!
The CD was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, USA, just for the record.
