ΟΜΙΧΛΗ - "Friends for ever...Punx for life"{FOG Records, 77/82 Athens Crew}
Omixli (translated in english as fog) is currently one of the best punk bands in the Greek scene. They exist for almost 10 years now and they have a bunch of releases out. To be honest, Omixli is a band that you either love or hate in the local scene; their shows are always full of passion & energy, while they have gained a strong fanbase during the last years.Their style evolved from 77 anarcho - punk rock (influenced by the greek scene of 80s) to melodic punk rock (a la Casualties) with many oi! / street punk parts.
"Friends for ever...punx for life" is their latest release. Here we have the CD format but as far as I know the record will be released in vinyl format by the american label Joe Pogo Records in the end of the summer...
Nevertheless, the CD includes 9 songs plus a Fleas and Lice cover ("Up the Punx"). The style is fucking melodic punk rock just for the punks and the ones that like punk music!
Their main influence is of course Casualties, so you know what to expect.
All the songs are anthems, especially "Liars", "Mad Boot Boys" and "Antinazi Army".
Moreover, I like the only song that features greek lyrics, the band's self - titled one. There's a song in spanish language, as well...
Lyricwise the band concetrates in topics like antinazi action, punks' unity and political & social issues.
The production is simply cool, while I'd prefer a better artwork/layout, but I bet that the vinyl edition will kick ass!
